LTC (Ret) Kyle Keomalu

Lieutenant Colonel Keomalu, United States Army, was commissioned as an Infantry Second Lieutenant in May 1984 from the University of Hawaii ROTC program. His military education includes the Infantry Basic and Advance Courses at Ft Benning Georgia, the Combined Arms and Services Staff School, the Army Command and General Staff College at FT Leavenworth, Kansas. LTC Keomalu's additional advance education includes the Army Unit Mobilization Course, the Army Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Officers Course, and the Army Force Development Course at FT Belvoir, Virginia.

Lieutenant Colonel Keomalu has served in a variety of assignments both in the Continental United States and overseas. Lieutenant Colonel Keomalu is the Senior Army Instructor, Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, Saint Louis School Honolulu, Hawaii. His past assignments include the following: Senior Army Instructor Leilehua JROTC, Wahiawa, Hawaii; Force Integration Officer 25th Infantry Division G-5/7, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; Force Requirements Chief, J-5, Strategic Plans and Policy, Combined Forces Command Afghanistan, Kabul, Afghanistan; Deputy Force Development, 9th Regional Support Command, FT Shafter, Hawaii; Force Modernization Officer, 70th Regional Readiness Command, Seattle Washington; Manpower Control Officer, US Army Reserve Command, Ft McPherson, Georgia; Brigade S-1 187th Infantry Brigade, Ft Devens, Massachusetts; Brigade Deputy S-2/3, 187th Infantry Brigade, Ft Devens, Massachusetts; Company Commander Bravo Company 100th Battalion 442nd Infantry. Lieutenant Colonel Keomalu served in a variety of leadership positions as a Lieutenant in the 4th Battalion 502nd Infantry and 100th Battalion, 442nd Infantry; they include rifle platoon leader, 81mm mortars platoon leader and as a Anti-Tank company executive officer. While assigned to the 4th Battalion 502nd LTC Keomalu spent extended time on and within the then East German Border. His duties also includes assignments in Japan, Australia, Iceland, Korea, American Samoa, Berlin, Germany and the Middle East.

Lieutenant Colonel Keomalu has been awarded the Bronze Star, the Army Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Army Commendation Award with four oak leaf clusters, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Medal, the National Defense Medal with Bronze Star, the Humanitarian Service Medal with Bronze Star, the Overseas Medal with the numeral 3, and Parachutist Badge. He also holds a Bachelor's Degree in History from the University of Hawaii.

1SG (Retired) Jimmy Akuna

1SG Jimmy A. Akuna, United States Army, enlisted into military service after graduating from Leilehua High School in 1969.  His military education includes basic combat training at Fort Ord, California, Infantrymans training at Fort Gordon, Georgia, basic Airborne training, Ranger school, Pathfinder school, ANCOES, 1SG Course, Drill Sergeant School, Fort Benning , Georgia,  Jumpmaster school, Vicenza, Italy, Commando Training 4th French Training Command, Breisech, Federal Republic of Germany, Recondo School, Schofield Barracks ,Hawaii.

1SG Akuna has served in a variety of assignments both in the United States and overseas.  He is currently serving as the assistant instructor in the Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps program at Saint Louis School. His past assignments include: Senior scout observer, November Company Rangers, 173rd Airborne Brigade (Sep), Republic of Vietnam; 1970-1971,  Team leader, E troop 17th Cavalry (ground), 173rd Airborne Brigade (Sep), Ft. Campbell. Kentucky; 1971-1972, Squad leader, 1st Battalion, 327th Inf, 101st Airborne Division, Ft Campbell, Kentucky; 1972-1974,  Squad leader, 1st Battalion, 5th Inf, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; 1974-1975, Platoon sergeant, 3rd Squadron, 4th Cavalry, 25th Inf Division Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; 1975-1977,  Platoon sergeant, 1st Battalion, 509th Airborne Battalion Combat Team, Vicenza, Italy;1977-1980,  Parachute instructor, Airborne Department, Ft Benning, Georgia;1980-1982, Drill Sergeant, Ft Benning, Georgia;1982-1984, Platoon Sergeant, 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment;1984-1985, Chief Instructor Air Assault School, 25th Inf Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii;1985-1987, 1SG, 25th Inf Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii;1987-1989 and on August 1989 retired from active duty.                                                           

1SG Akuna's military awards include: Meritorious Service Medal (1), Army Commendation Medal(3), Army Achievement Medal (3), Combat Infantryman's Badge, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (3), National Defense Service Ribbon(1), Air Medal (1), Vietnam Service Medal w/4 Bronze Service Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal,Expert Infantryman's Badge, Army Service Ribbon (1), Overseas Service Ribbon (2), Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/palm, Army Good Conduct Medal (6), Master Parachutist Badge, French Commando Badge, German Army Parachutist Badge, Vietnam Parachutist Badge, Drill Sergeant Badge, Pathfinder's badge, Air Assault Badge, Ranger Tab.  1SG Akuna received his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Chaminade University.
