Saint Louis Elementary Students Walk for a Cause

Saint Louis students help other brothers and sisters with their time and energy by walking with Christ.

On October 17th, over 200 Crusader students, teachers, and families took to the Saint Louis track for a Walk-A-Thon supporting the Hawaii Children's Cancer Foundation, an organization that gives help and hope to children fighting cancer.

Elementary students were given pledge sheets for a $ amount per lap, or a one-time donation. As a Marianist School, a special mass was scheduled to bless the event for helping others. Pink bracelets were created and worn during the walk-a-thon and for every lap completed, the students received a sticker. The Grade 4 and 5 students led the way with 21 laps and helped our younger students around the track. Overall, they averaged 5 laps, with one Kindergarten student completing 12 laps.

Students collected their pledged $ amounts and raised over $5,500 for the Hawaii Children's Cancer Foundation.  They presented the check to HCCF at chapel.

The event and all of the preparations is part of their project-based learning experience.
