The Risk Ain't Worth It!

Mahalo to our faculty, staff and administrators for taking part in this educational safety video for our students returning to campus!

Saint Louis School Safety Procedure Video: "The Risk Ain't Worth It"

Released: September 9, 2020

In a July meeting, Mr. Bulatao (Teacher) aka Kutmaster Spaz, and Dr.

Glenn Medeiros (President of Saint Louis School) were discussing future video productions for the new Saint Louis School state of the art production studio when an idea formed. Let's create a video to welcome our young men back to campus while explaining the new safety procedures. Recognizing how challenging the lockdown has been, we wanted to ensure a safe return with as little stress as possible. Both Dr. Medeiros and Spaz liked the idea of creating a song or rap.

Spaz reached out to long-time friend Daniel Rose (aka Danny R) whom Spaz has collaborated with in the past to help write the rap using the song. Rose pitched the idea of recreating and using the chorus of Glenn's national Billboard # 1 hit song for two weeks called "She Ain't Worth It" released on MCA records in 1990 featuring Bobby Brown but changing it to "The Risk Ain't Worth It". Spaz and Rose kept the focus on the COVID-19 CDC guidelines, along with the new Saint Louis School safety procedures to create and produce a catchy rap song that features Dr. Medeiros singing the well-known chorus at the end "The Risk Ain't Worth It".

For those unfamiliar, Dr. Medeiros is also a successful singer and songwriter who achieved chart success in the late 1980s and early 1990s while Kutmaster Spaz is also a local celebrity DJ/Mixer entertaining crowds for over 30 years! With such creativity and talent, it's a no brainer that this safety procedure video evolved into what it is.

The rapping and hook are done by Kutmaster Spaz, the ending chorus is sung by Dr. Glenn Medeiros, Dr. Devin Oshiro played himself (Principal of Saint Louis School), the student demonstrating the safety procedures is played by Mr. Ray Abregano (Dean of Teachers and Freshmen English Teacher), the supporting cast are faculty members, the back-up dancers are the dedicated office staff and choreographer Rachel Fukumoto (VP of Business Operations). The video was filmed and edited by our very own talented Saint Louis School student (c/o 2023), Josiah Bulatao. The lyrics and music production was done in collaboration by Danny R and Kutmaster Spaz. The recording took place on campus at the Crusader Media Studio and was mixed and mastered by producer Osna Ronquillio and Kutmaster Spaz.

We here at Saint Louis School truly miss having our students on campus and look forward to their return to in-person education. We hope you all enjoy the video and remember the safety procedures.
