School-Led Global Studies & International Opportunities in Honolulu, HI

At Saint Louis School, the world is our classroom. Since 1907, we have connected our young men with peers across the globe, cultivating friendships, cultural pride, and leadership skills that last a lifetime. Whether traveling abroad, welcoming international students to Hawai‘i, or exploring world cultures in the classroom, our Crusaders step confidently onto the global stage while staying rooted in who they are.

JAPAN SISTER SCHOOL EXCHANGES
Since 1974, Saint Louis School has proudly maintained strong ties with schools and government partners in Japan. These long-standing relationships provide our students with more than just travel—they open doors to authentic cultural exchange, leadership growth, and lifelong international friendships.
Partner schools and regions include:
● Nichidai Tsuchiura High School System
● Ehime Prefecture schools
● Fukuoka Prefecture schools
● The Five Marianist Schools of Japan
Through these exchanges, our Crusaders learn to see beyond borders, challenge themselves in new environments, and grow in appreciation for both their own heritage and the cultures of others.

CULTURE STUDY TOURS

International travel transforms learning into adventure. Saint Louis School organizes cultural and academic study tours during school breaks, designed to immerse students in the language, traditions, and history of other nations.

Recent journeys have taken Crusaders to Japan, Taiwan, Spain, and the Philippines. For many, these trips are a chance not only to experience something new but also to reconnect with their own ancestral homelands. Students who successfully complete related projects and reflections may also earn elective credit toward graduation. All programs are guided through our Hi‘ipoi ‘Āina Office, ensuring a balance of safety, enrichment, and discovery.

Parent Perspective Callout

WORLD LANGUAGES & CULTURES PROGRAM

Global readiness begins at home. Our students have the opportunity to study six world languages:

  • ‘Ōlelo Hawai‘i
  • Chinese
  • Filipino
  • Japanese
  • Spanish
  • Samoan

With a two-year minimum language study requirement, our young men build communication skills while deepening appreciation for Hawai‘i’s diverse cultural heritage. For many students, language learning is also a journey inward: heritage learners gain the opportunity to rediscover family traditions, reconnect with elders, and take pride in their cultural identity.

Courses go beyond textbooks—students take part in cultural festivals, culinary experiences, guest lectures, virtual exchanges, and field trips that bring language learning to life. These programs prepare Crusaders to celebrate their own roots while engaging with cultures from around the world.

Mission Callout
Language learning at Saint Louis is more than academics — it’s a pathway to cultural pride. Heritage learners discover how their family history connects to a larger global story, shaping them into confident, compassionate leaders.
