Blended Learning
WHAT IS BLENDED LEARNING? At Saint Louis School blended learning is a combination of Whole-Group Learning and Personalized Learning. WHAT IS WHOLE-GROUP LEARNING? Whole-Group Learning means everyone learns together. Learning could be teacher-led or student-led but the learning occurs in small groups, large groups or together as a whole group. Learning doesn't always have to be at the same pace since students learn at different rates. Teachers adjust and differentiate instruction to accommodate different learners and their learning styles. Teachers use various instruction methods use to reach our gifted or struggling students to support their learning.
WHAT IS PERSONALIZED LEARNING? Personalized Learning can consist of Computer-Assisted Instruction (CAI) allowing students to work within their respective Zones of Proximal Development. The attached chart shows all of our CAI tools that students use to increase their scores in reading and in math in various grade levels. What makes Saint Louis School unique is that specific CAI tools have been selected to suit the unique academic abilities of each student by grade level. In addition, these CAI tools are to be used both during the school day and at home. A Placement Test is given at the start of every school year. Benchmark Tests are given periodically to determine the student status. At the end of the school year, students take one last benchmark to see if the hard work they did throughout the year helped to accomplish their goal of raising their scores. |
