News from President Medeiros
Aloha Kakou,
"Rejoice in hope, endure in affliction, persevere in prayer." (Romans 12:12)
As we approach 177 years of educating young men of Hawai'i in the Marianist tradition at Saint Louis School, it is my distinct honor to be the leader of an institution steeped in a tradition of brotherhood and committed to our unique mission of exposing our students to the 6 A's: Akua (God), Academics, Alaka'i (Leadership) Athletics, Aloha (Serving others), and the Arts. On behalf of our Saint Louis School Board of Trustees and the Mariansts, I welcome you to Hawaii's only all-boys K-12 educational institution.
Many of our graduates have made a great impact on society, from politicians to philanthropists, businessmen, athletes, doctors, lawyers, scientists and more. Today, recent graduates have attended colleges like Stanford University, Dartmouth University, and the U.S. Military Academy at West Point to name a few. More importantly than being accepted to these prestigious universities and offered generous scholarships to make it possible, we take pride in finding the right fit for our students because we value accepting students to Saint Louis School of various backgrounds and abilities. We find strength in diversity. We provide an opportunity for students with a variety of cognitive strengths to learn together and succeed. In this environment, we grow leaders who can communicate, work with, and relate to many groups of people, thus, creating outstanding leaders in our community and around the world.
Our approach to educating is also unique. We strive to honor successful teaching methods used in the past while taking pride in utilizing the latest research in education to reach a new generation of students. This balanced approach is called Blended Learning. It combines group learning strategies like cooperative learning, lecture, etc. with personalized learning techniques where students learn at their own pace, where they can make the greatest strides with the use of software and programs we invest thousands of dollars into annually. In addition, our Aina-based learning curriculum teaches us who we are as people of Hawaii, while our Global-based learning challenges students to take what we've learned about our home, compare and contrast how others around the world live and then determine how we can best solve the problems society faces today and in the future.
Here at Saint Louis School, our motto is "Mindful and Faithful." As with many other schools, it is important to grow the mind. At Saint Louis School, life-long friendships are nurtured through God's example of Mary's faith in her son, and God's faith in us. This faith, in an all-boys environment with little distractions, where young men are taught to be Saint Louis Men who have faith in themselves and others, builds men who go beyond expectations to change the world. We invite you to become a part of this brotherhood.
Mahalo Nui,
Dr. Glenn Medeiros Ed.D.
President
Saint Louis School
